The Sweat Level


Fitness is an important aspect of our trips, and the fitter you are the more easily you will adjust and enjoy yourself. This trip has been assigned a Sweat Level of ‘Easy’. Trips with this grading are fairly relaxed and suitable for most fitness levels. In preparation of the trip, we recommend you exercise once or twice a week for two to three months prior to departure.

When To Go

Mid-October until mid-March are the cooler and drier months in North India. You can expect daytime temperatures of about 20°C to 25°C and average nighttime temperatures of around 10°C. In November, December, January and February daytime temperatures will range between 15°C and 20°C while night time temperatures may fall to as low as 5°C when camping in Rajasthan.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

The adventure begins in bustling Delhi. On arrival, you'll be met at the airport for a transfer to the group hotel with the day is free for you to explore. In the evening, a group briefing will be held where you will learn more about the trip and get acquainted with your Yomads group.

Day 2: Delhi

Spend the day uncovering the pulses of Delhi, a thriving metropolis and India's capital city. Visit the 400-year-old Jama Mosque, the largest in India, followed by a cycle rickshaw ride through the teeming bazaar Chandni Chowk and on to Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The evening is free for you to enjoy Delhi’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 3: Haridwar

In the early morning, transfer to the railway station for a train to Haridwar on the Shatabdi Express. In the afternoon, take in the highlights of Haridwar before spending the evening at leisure.

Day 4: Rishikesh

After breakfast, travel to Rishikesh, a spiritual hub known as the gateway to the Ganges. In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of the city followed by an evening yoga class before spending the remainder of the day exploring at your own pace.

Day 5: Shivpuri

Today we drive toward Shivpuri, making our way to Byassi Rafting Camp, our home for the next two nights. Located about 26kms from Rishikesh, the hill area of the majestic Himalaya is famous for river rafting and camping.

Day 6: Byassi rafting camp

Today is reserved for exploring the area surrounding our camp, beginning with rafting downriver towards Rishikesh. After leaving the rafts behind, have lunch and embark on a short hike to a nearby village.

Day 7: Overnight train to Jaipur

In the afternoon, return to Haridwar where we board an overnight train to Jaipur - a must do while in India. Fall asleep to the sway of the tracks before arriving to Jaipur in the early morning.

Day 8: Jaipur

After breakfast at the hotel, set out to explore Jaipur, the largest city in Rajasthan known as the 'Pink City'. There are many sights to take in here, including the magnificent Amber Fort, the ancient citadel of the Kachhawa clan, the Jantar Mantar Observatory, built in the 1700s, and the Hawa Mahal, affectionately called the 'Palace of Winds'.

Days 9 & 10: Ranthambhore National Park

Travel to the stunning Ranthambhore National Park, one of the largest parks in North India and home to a Project Tiger reserve. The next two days will be spent taking Jeep safaris to search for the area's unique wildlife, including tigers, leopards, sloths and sambars.

Day 11: Agra

Travel to Agra, home to the majestic Taj Mahal and full of a colourful history and lively markets, known as chowks. The day is free for you to discover the many gems of this city at your own pace.

Day 12: Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, trip ends Delhi

It's an early start to the day as we rise in time to see the sunrise over the iconic Taj Mahal before visiting the impressive Agra Fort, one of the best Mughal forts in India. In the afternoon, return to Delhi where the trip ends, leaving you free to head home or continue the adventure on your own.

  • Easy
Gemakkelijk – Dit is een redelijk relaxte reis en geschikt voor iedereen met een normale conditie. Op sommige dagen zijn de activiteiten misschien ietwat pittig, maar dit zijn echt de uitzonderingen.

Middelzwaar - Van de activiteiten bij een middelzware reis, zoals fietsen, wandelen, kajakken of andere fysieke inspanningen, krijg je een snellere hartslag en ga je zweten. Wees slim en bereid je goed voor op deze reizen. Hoe? Begin ten minste drie maanden voordat de reis start met gymen, joggen en snelwandelen of fiets minimaal drie keer per week. Dit om er zeker van te zijn dat je een goede conditie krijgt. Want: des te fitter je bent, des te leuker is je reis.

Pittig - Bij een pittige reis maak je zware wandelingen of fietstochten van meerdere dagen. Om je voor te bereiden op deze reizen is het verstandig om vooraf veel sporten. Maak bijvoorbeeld minimaal elke twee weken een stevige wandeling of fietstocht. Zo krijg je een goed uithoudingsvermogen. Als je dit combineert met normale, langdurige cardio oefeningen (minimaal drie keer per week) weet je bijna zeker dat je alle activiteiten kunt volhouden. Maar… begin wel op tijd! Onze tip: start ten minste drie maanden voor de reis met deze oefeningen om te zorgen dat je topfit bent en aan alles mee kunt doen.
